Blanca Padilla for Vogue Japan (Lifestyle feature)

Imagen
PH: David Mushegain Vogue Japan usually does this kind of lifestyle feature with different models, and I rarely dislike them. We basically get to see the models in a very natural way, in their own house and sharing some bits of her everyday life with us. This one really shows what this feature is about. As you may know, I really like Blanca. And despite liking her when she's styled in different ways, I feel like she looks her best when she is the most natural.  It doesn't really get much more natural than this.

Celebrity streetstyle: Bella Hadid

Models who are also celebrities are a great source of streetstyle inspiration. They usually have a certain style, picked by their stylist, but they experiment a lot as well. One week they have a very defined style, but God knows what they'll wear the next. I personally don't like most of Bella's outfits, but this one I LOVED it. It's as if I had picked it for her 😉 This grunge style look is not easy to pull of, because if it doesn't fit your personality, you're likely to look like you're trying to hard (which is usually the case). But it looks great on Bella and I think her stylist should use this kind of look on her more often, rather than the fake tacky early 2000's she goes for most of the time.

The Edit by Net-A-Porter February: Cameron Russell by Victor Demarchelier

The fashion industry is full of inspiring people, and that includes models.  You know he saying "don't bite the hand that feeds you" and so does Cameron. But she also knows that doesn't mean you just have to be quiet and do nothing, even if you think something is not fair. That's what she started with her TED talk (that I will link at the end of this post) and what she has kept on doing since then.  The latest example is this interview for The Edit. Many criticize her for doing this and many applaud her. I'm happy someone is speaking up and hopefully more models and other professionals (like James Scully) will do the same in the future.

Romee Strijd for The Last Magazine S/S 17

This is exciting guys. First post of the year that I write in the garden...hello Spring! The next exciting writing moment will come when I get to start writing at the cricket. Only a couple of weeks away ;) So, tomorrow is my birthday and I like to post about my favourite things when it's my birthday. This year is no exception. Romee has been a favourite of mine since the beginning of her career. Nowadays, for many reasons, I pay more attention to new faces. However, I didn't do that when Romee was on, so the fact that I noticed her proves how special she was. Now she has millions of followers on Instagram and she is a VS angel. I love to see her being successful, but I still miss her HF work. That's why I LOVE this editorial she did for The Last Magazine. It feels quite raw, yet it's insanely beautiful.  Romee is now represented by IMG, which can only mean she'll become a bigger star. I mean, just take a look at Taylor Hill's career ;) Ph

#tbt: Karlie Kloss for Uk Vogue May '12

Karlie and British Vogue have always produced good editorials. For some reason, she seems to fit more this British version than she does the American, and we all know where she is from.  One of my all time favourite editorials from her is this one by A. Pennetta for British Vogue. It's called "An American in Paris", like the musical, and it was done during the HC season in 2012. It feels like ages ago. I love how casual it is, and the outtakes are amazing too.  "An American in Paris" Ph: Angelo Pennetta Outtakes: Karlie y el Vogue británico siempre han producido buenos editoriales.

Runway star of the season: Birgit Kos

Imagen
Elle France Nov. '15 Who should be the star of the season? The model that walks the most shows? The one that opens more shows than any other model? ...maybe, but for me it is the model that makes the biggest impact on the people watching the shows. The model than impressed me, personally, the most was Birgit Kos. And that led to me doing some research about her. Her face looked familiar, and I felt like she had been doing top shows for seasons. But actually, that wasn't true. I think I remembered her from her SS 16 Giorgio Armani campaign. She also caught my eye because of her campaigns for Miu Miu, where she outshined the other models. For the SS 17 season she only did one show: Miu Miu, which she opened. And she carried that momentum to this FW 17.18 season. She skipped both NY and London, but started with a bang closing the Fendi show. I can see her getting the campaign.
