Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016: Review #6

  -Chanel:

Chanel airlines hopes you enjoyed the show...I didn't. 

The set was amazing, as always. Actually, even better than previous seasons. It was an airport, with every single detail. Loved it.

But, this is about clothes, not sets. And I feel like Chanel is nowadays like Marc Jacobs' Louis Vuitton. They spend way too much time and money on the set, so people can't see how repetitive and boring the collections are. The problem is that some of us really see that.

There are some beautiful outfits, of course. I mean, imagine the disaster if we couldn't find a couple of nice outfits in a collection with 90 looks. Most prints are beautiful, and that's my favourite part of the show. But...those caps, those sunglasses, those shoes!!! Really, the shoes are just awful. 

If only their collections were as good as their sets...

Las aerolíneas Chanel les desean un feliz desfile...pero en mi caso no ha sido así.

El set fue una pasada, como siempre. De hecho, este me gusta más que el de pasadas temporadas. Era un aeropuerto con todos los detalles posibles. Me encanta.

Pero, esto va de ropa, no de sets. Y siento que hoy en día Chanel se parece al Louis Vuitton de Marc Jacobs. Pasan demasiado tiempo pensando en el set, para que la gente no se de cuenta de lo repetitiva y aburrida que es la colección. El problema es que muchos si nos damos cuenta de eso.

Había pases preciosos, por supuesto. Imaginad el drama que sería no encontrar ni un pase bueno en una colección que tiene 90. La mayoría de los estampados eran muy bonitos, y esa es sin duda mi parte favorita del desfile. Pero...esas gorras, esas gafas de sol, esos zapatos...En serio, los zapatos son horribles.

Si sus colecciones fueran la mitad de buenas que sus sets...

  -Valentino:

Lots of things need to be said about this show so, let's do it!

First of all, I love it. But you know me, I love this Valentino duo. 

The second thing I want to talk about is their livestream. I usually enjoy it because the quality is great, but also because they tend to show little notes about the show that help you understand the collection. But this time they also interviewed the main make-up artist and the main hairdresser, which really helped me understand the story behind the collection. They were talking about how this Valentino girl traveled all over the world and was influenced by that. That explains the african inspiration for the show, and also the hair. It's not your classic "princess hair" that Valentino usually does, but it's the right hair style for the show. 

Also, the whole "girl who traveled" explains something that people have been talking about. Diversity is a huge thing in fashion, and lots of people get easily offended by things. Lots of people said that it was offensive to have too many white girls wearing things that are inspired by Africa. And I don't understand the problem. Again, a girl who traveled...

I'm sorry but I find that really stupid. We saw a model (Taylor Hill) making fun of a person because of his race a couple of days ago. And we saw it because she was stupid enough to post it online. THAT is offensive, not this show. Let's not take things too seriously, please. 

So, we talked about those 3 things, and now we have to talk about the clothes. After the Alta Moda show in Rome, I knew this wasn't going to be as good. Mainly because that show was perfect, absolutely perfect. I don't think they can ever do something better than that. Therefore this collection was slightly underwhelming at first. But two hours later I can say that it was ridiculously gorgeous.

My favourite thing is that they've been trying to do something different lately. I'm a massive fan of their fairy collections, but I do like to see something different from time to time. And this is good different, people. I just love it.

As usual, I recomend to watch the show and not just pictures. The way the clothes move change the way you see them, dramatically.

Tengo muchas cosas que decir sobre este desfile, así que empecemos.

Primero de todo, decir que me ha encantado. Pero ya me conocéis, adoro a este dúo.

Lo segundo que quiero mencionar es su livestream. Suele gustarme porque la calidad es genial, pero también porque muestran mensajes durante el desfile que ayudan a entender la colección. Pero es que esta vez también entrevistaron a los jefes de maquillaje y peluquería, lo cual ayudó muchísimo a que entendiera la historia que hay detrás de la colección. Hablaban de la chica Valentino, que ha viajado por todo el mundo y se ha dejado influenciar por otras culturas. Eso explica la inspiración africana del desfile, y el peinado. No es el clásico "pelo de princesa" que solemos ver en Valentino, pero es el adecuado para el desfile.

Además, todo el tema de "chica viajera" explica algo que se está comentando mucho. La diversidad racial es un tema importante en la moda, y mucha gente se ofende rápido por ello. Mucha gente considera ofensivo ver a chicas blancas llevando prendas inspiradas en África. Y yo no veo el problema. De nuevo os lo digo, la chica que viaja...

Lo siento, pero es ridículo. Vimos hace unos a días a una modelo (Taylor Hill) mofándose de un hombre por pertenecer a otra raza. Y lo vimos porque fue lo suficientemente tonta como para publicarlo en internet. ESO es ofensivo, no este desfile. Relajémonos un poco, por favor.

Bueno, tras hablar de esas 3 cosas, toca hablar de la ropa. Después del desfile de Alta Moda en Roma, supe que este no sería tan bueno. Básicamente porque ese desfile fue absolutamente perfecto. No creo que puedan superar lo hecho en esa colección. Por tanto, esta colección me resultó algo decepcionante de primeras. Pero dos horas más tarde puedo deciros que la encuentro ridículamente preciosa. Mi parte favorita es que están intentando introducir cosas nuevas últimamente. Yo soy gran fan del jardín de hadas que solían tener, pero me gusta ver cosinas nuevas. Es diferente en el buen sentido y me encanta.

Como siempre os recomiendo ver el desfile en lugar de mirar fotos. La manera en que la ropa se mueve cambia drásticamente vuestra opinión. Os lo aseguro.
