New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017: Review #1
When I decided to do just two reviews during fashion week, I wasn't sure about it. I felt like I was letting you guys down, that you'll think I'm just being lazy, ...but it is the best decision I've made in a while. It's not that I don't have time to write about the shows...I barely have time to watch them. It should be better during the European fashion weeks, though.
Anyway, I've selected 9 collections that I want to talk about. Three of them (Tom Ford, Tommy Hilfiger and Thakoon) are part of the "see now, buy now" trend, so they actually belong to the FW collections. But they've been presented during this week, so I'll talk about them anyway.
Cuando decidí hacer dos reseñas durante la semana de la moda, tuve dudas. Me parecía que os iba a parecer que os estaba dejando tirados o que me había puesto en plan vago, ...pero resulta que es la mejor decisión que he tomado en mucho tiempo. No es que no tenga tiempo para escribir sobre desfiles, ...es que apenas tengo tiempo de verlos. Debería ser más sencillo para mi durante las semanas europeas.
Pero bueno, he conseguido seleccionar 9 colecciones de las que os quiero hablar. Tres de ellas (Tom Ford, Tommy Hilfiger y Thakoon) son parte del famoso "see now, buy now", así que en realidad son colecciones de otoño. Pero han sido presentadas esta semana, así que hablaré de ellas igualmente.
-Tom Ford:
Tom Ford has disappointed me a lot in the last couple of seasons. You always expect the best from someone as talented as him. And this time, I liked it way better.
Definetely his best collection since his "comeback".
Tom Ford me ha decepcionado bastante en las últimas temporadas. Porque siempre esperamos lo mejor de alguien con tanto talento como él. Y esta vez, me ha dejado más contenta.
Su mejor colección desde su "comeback".
-Noon by Noor:
Sometimes, a smaller brand decides to hire some of the best models. And that definetely catches my attention. It's not like I've never checked their show, but this time I put more effort on doing that. And I'm glad they put my favourite models on their show, because it helped me realized how gorgeous this collection is. So far, the best of the week.
A veces una marca más pequeña decide contratar a algunas de las mejores modelos. Y eso hace que yo me fije más en ella. No es que no suela mirar este desfile pero, esta vez le puse más ganas. Y me alegra que decidieran hacer eso, porque me ayudó a darme cuenta de lo preciosa que es esta colección. La mejor de la semana, de momento.
-Jason Wu:
When I look at this collection, I see many designers. Do I see Jason Wu, though? Not really.
That's because this brand has no identity, and that's a huge problem.
Cuando miro esta colección, veo a muchos diseñadores. ¿Veo a Jason Wu? No.
Y eso es porque esta marca no tienen una identidad definida, lo cual es un gran problema.
-Thakoon:
Another brand that I don't usually pay much attention to is Thakoon. But again, they got it because of the cast. And again, I'm really glad that happened.
Keep in mind this is another fall collection. It clearly isn't summery but it surely is lovely.
Otra marca a la que no suelo prestar mucha atención es Thakoon. Pero de nuevo me cautivaron con su casting. Y de nuevo me alegro de que eso pasara.
No olvidéis que es otra colección de otoño. Sin duda no es veraniega, pero si que es preciosa.
-Alexander Wang:
The last time I liked an Alexander Wang collection was...Anna Ewers' first show. That was like 3 years ago. I'm not trying to say that this collection is amazing but, compared to his last 5 collections, it is quite decent.
La última vez que me gustó una colección de Alexander Wang fue...durante el primer desfile de Anna Ewers para la marca. Y eso fue hace 3 años. Con esto no quiero decir que esta colección sea una maravilla, pero comparada con las últimas cinco, es bastante decente.
-Tommy Hilfiger (Gigi Hadid's collaboration):
Let's be serious, this isn't anything special. But is it pretty? Super pretty.
I want many things from the collection, but it didn't change the fashion world.
Seamos serios, esto no es nada especial. Pero, ¿es bonito? Super bonito.
Quiero varias piezas de la colección, pero tampoco es que el mundo de la moda haya cambiado por completo gracias a ella.
-Victoria Beckham:
As much as I like her collections, I don't really know about this one. There is something off, even though it's quite lovely.
Pese a lo mucho que me gustan sus colecciones, no se que pensar de esta. Hay algo que no me pega, pero reconozco que es bonita.
-Diane von Furstenberg:
New designer for the brand, which was very necessary. It feels so fresh and different. Great start.
Nuevo diseñador en la marca, lo cual era muy necesario. Tiene un toque fresco y diferente. Gran comienzo.
-Altuzarra:
Welcome to the Prada show...I mean, Altuzarra. What is this, exactly? It's Prada S/S 12, which was a long time ago, but not enough for any of us to forget how it looked. Insane.
Bienvenidos al desfile de Prada...digo, de Altuzarra. ¿Qué es esto? Es Prada PV 12, lo cual vimos hace tiempo, pero no tanto como para olvidarlo por completo. Que locura.
