"Absolutely Fashion: Inside British Vogue" documentary (BBC 2)

We finally have a date for the release of this documentary about British Vogue that will be shown on BBC 2. We only have 6 more days left, people. It will air the 8th of September. I was very happy when I heard about this documentary. I love this kind of thing, since it really allows us to see more behind the scenes footage and that's what help us understand the fashion world completely. In 2009, the most hyped fashion documentary was released. I'm talking about "The September Issue". It's a must seen, if you love fashion. This won't be exactly the same, since it won't be just focused on one specific issue. But I'm dying to watch it. Me a...

"The future of fashion" documentaries, Alexa Chung for British Vogue

This isn't the first time I talk to you about a fashion documentary. And I seriously doubt it'll be the last. As with any other topic, if you want to really learn about it, you'll have to do some research. For some people, watching a documentary is more entertaining that reading a book. And, if you pick the right one, it can be as informative. I mean, I love reading but...when it comes to fashion, I kind of like documentaries better.  That's why I was looking forward to these series of videos Alexa Chung has been doing in colaboration with UK Vogue. There are 2 series of "The future of fashion" that are really interesting. I particularly like the second, in which Alexa goes to NY, since they used the feedback they got after publishing series 1 to create a series of videos where most of our questions are answered. That's what you call a 21st century documentary, isn't it? Once all the videos were out, they uploaded new ones where you could fi...

"Dior and I" documentary

In one of my skype conversations with my father, he told me to be careful because he reads my blog now. Well, hello there, father! I'm going to talk about you today. Well, sort of. In another one of these conversations, he told me about a Dior documentary he watched on the tv. He's obviously not used to watching runway shows like I do, and certain things, such as the set, fascinated him. It was then when I realised I never watched that documentary myself, even though I really wanted to. So I went online and watched it. It's now one of my favourite fashion documentaries ever!! It helps us understand how a collection can be created, how many people work on it, ... Also, since Raf left Dior last week, I wanted to dedicate him a post. I loved his work for Dior, even though most people didn't. I'll miss him. My favourite parts were when they talked about money and budgets (really interesting), when we saw the disagreements they had (I'm glad they didn...

Fendi: Inside the mothership

A lot of people tell me that watching runway shows and reading fashion magazines isn't enough for them to learn about fashion. And I agree. This is like going to school. You read your textbook and you listen to what your teacher says, but you may also need to read more books about that topic to completely understand what you want to learn. That's why I love these kind of documentaries where we get to see the "behind the scenes" part. I'm sure you've heard about the "September issue", which I recommend if you want to see how a magazine is done. Also, there is another Vogue related documentary called "Les filles en Vogue", which is really good too. But the ones that I recommend the most are those where we can see what happens the day before the fashion show. These are called "Le jour d'avant" and you can find them on youtube. Today I'm going to show you a similar one. In this one we can see what happened at Fendi the d...
