Vogue Spain 30th Anniversary: Birgit, Blanca, Luna & Yasmin by Emma Summerton

Imagen
Vogue Spain is turning 30 this month, and I'm turning 29 next week. Should we celebrate together? I feel like we should. However, the big difference between Vogue and I is that I won't have all these models posing for my birthday card. I know, very unfair! But let's forget about that, so we can talk about the cover and the editorial they created for this special moment. Funnily enough, the Spanish version of Vogue is using 3 Dutch models and a Spaniard to celebrate their anniversary. Now, don't get me wrong, because I don't believe in just using models from Spain on Spanish magazines. I want them to pick who they think is the best for that job, and who they like the most over someone who was born in Madrid instead of Amsterdam.  My issue is that being an anniversary issue, I feel like a group shot should include national models. Had they gone for a solo cover, I wouldn't mind as much. But it just feels more like Vogue Netherlands. Granted, most ...

Versace S/S 2018 campaign, by Steven Meisel

After the huge production for the Spring/Summer show that Versace did, everyone expected a huge campaign. Some people wanted a campaign with the supermodels from the 90's and other wanted a mix of models from different decades. The team went for the latter, and I'm happy about it. Cast-wise we've got the iconic supermodels (Naomi and Christy), the iconic supers from the 00's (Gisele, Natalia, Raquel), some models who have stablished themselves as future icons recently (Irina, Vittoria, Gigi) and some newer models (Birgit, Cara, Grace and Kaia). As always, some people wanted this model in the campaign and that model far away from it...but pleasing everyone is an impossibility. I'm personally happy with the casting, and waiting to see more pictures. The absolute highlight, in my opinion, is Naomi. Sometimes I feel like she doesn't really try because she's Naomi and doesn't have to anymore. But these pictures of her look like they belong to...

H&M Summer 2017 : Anna Mila, Birgit, Luna, Maartje & Mayowa by Mario Sorrenti

Fashion can be very pretentious, and that's why sometimes I really appreciate a simple nice campaign with beatiful models. Walking into a store like H&M shouldn't be intimidating, it should be cozy and make you happy. You walk around looking at the clothes and also looking at the pictures/videos on the walls.  At the moment, they have the new summer campaign on their shops, and it just makes you want to buy everything. The models look gorgeous, the clothes have amazing colours that work really well together. And it's cheaper than pretty much all the other shops.  The film is very captivating. I have watched the last two episodes of GNTM live, and they showed it multiple times during the adverts. You can't change the channel when that's on. My only complaint is that the gorgeous portraits that they have on the stores are not on their website. I can show you the one Maartje posted on her instagram, but I wish I could show you all of them in HQ. ...

Runway star of the season: Birgit Kos

Imagen
Elle France Nov. '15 Who should be the star of the season? The model that walks the most shows? The one that opens more shows than any other model? ...maybe, but for me it is the model that makes the biggest impact on the people watching the shows. The model than impressed me, personally, the most was Birgit Kos. And that led to me doing some research about her. Her face looked familiar, and I felt like she had been doing top shows for seasons. But actually, that wasn't true. I think I remembered her from her SS 16 Giorgio Armani campaign. She also caught my eye because of her campaigns for Miu Miu, where she outshined the other models. For the SS 17 season she only did one show: Miu Miu, which she opened. And she carried that momentum to this FW 17.18 season. She skipped both NY and London, but started with a bang closing the Fendi show. I can see her getting the campaign. ¿Quién debería ser la estrella de la temporada? ¿La modelo que hace más desfiles? ...
