Campaign season queens S/S 18, Part 1: Cara Taylor (USA)

Imagen
Back with the campaigns, in time to tell you about the queens of the season before the new ads for next season come out. First, I wanted to briefly mention last year's queens. Faretta is already flopping, and she went from scoring 8 campaigns to getting only 2: Ralph Lauren and Salvatore Ferragamo.  Kiki, however, is still on top form. She "only" got 4 campaigns this season (DVF, Calvin Klein, Christopher Kane, Marni), but those consolidate her. Besides, after her flawless fashion month, she showed she's not going anywhere. I also have some honorable mentions for other models who did great this season: Gigi Hadid (8), Rianne van Rompaey (6) and Bella, Kaia and Ansley (5). Now it's time to announce the runner-up of the season: Cara Taylor, who scored 8 major campaigns. On my next post, I'll show you who dominated the season. Paris Fashion Week S/S 2018: Alexandra Micu, star of the runway season

Imagen
Chloé S/S 2018 How do you define being the star of the season? I've said many times that, for me, that is impacting people more than the rest. That's why I've called Birgit Kos a runway star in the past, and also why I'm calling Alexandra Micu this season's star. Even though she skipped both NY and London. Alexandra's debut was as a exclusive for Louis Vuitton in the FW 16.17 season. After that, she has done other shows but was still very exclusive (last season, she was a worldwide exclusive for LV). And she's only done campaigns for LV, so I'm looking forward to seeing her in other ads. Being so exclusive can mean two things: 1) By the time you do a full season no one cares about you anymore, or 2) By the time you decide to do a full season, most brands are desperate to have you on their show. Guess which one happened to her? She hasn't walked every single show thrown at her like Cara Taylor, but has only been in top shows. It...

Cannes Festival '17: Martha Hunt "Amant Double" premiere

Imagen
Technology and I have never been great mates, which makes me want to spend the day crossing my fingers. I'm hoping this goes up when I told it too, but it may go up in 2047. Who knows? But today, I'm going to be away from phone and computer and won't be able to do the classic "press publish" thing. Yet I didn't want to leave you without a post again. And I really liked this dress that Martha wore, so let's talk about it. I believe it is YSL, which makes me think it has to be vintage because what YSL does nowadays is far from looking like this gorgeous dress does. Or it may be a custom piece but...again, I'm going for vintage. La tecnología y yo nunca nos hemos llevado bien, lo cual me hace pensar en pasarme el día cruzando los dedos. Espero que esta entrada se publique cuando puse que se publicase, pero a lo mejor se publica en 2047. A saber... El caso es que hoy voy a estar alejada de teléfonos y ordenadores, por lo que n...

Campaign season queens (S/S 17): Vittoria Ceretti

Imagen
14 years-old Vitto, 2013 Today I wanted to talk to you about one of the campaign queens of the season. Since I haven't talked about many campaigns this season, I thought it'd be nice to show you a good bunch of them while talking about the two models who scored the most ads this season.  I'm talking about Vittoria and Kiki Willems, two of my favourites. Vittoria got 9 campaigns and Kiki 10, but I will talk about her on Friday. Vitto started her career in 2013, and she managed to book some good shows and campaigns, mainly for Armani and D&G. But it wasn't until Ashley Brokaw gave her the seal of appoval that she got all the (deserved) attention she's getting now. For the SS 17 season, she got 9 campaigns and she was also part of the March cover of US Vogue, which is an incredible achievement for a model. Here are her campaigns: Ralph Lauren Icons, by Steven Meisel YSL 03, by Nathalie Canguilhem Fendi, by Karl Lagerfeld ...

YSL beauty "Babydoll"

Imagen
YSL has a new beauty collection called Babydoll. They had a perfume with this name before, and now a make-up collection. I like YSL make-up. I don't own a lot of things but I got the chance to try several products and I liked them. My favourite product has to be their "Shocking" mascara, which I highly recommend. So I would like to try this mascara as well. I don't know if we'll see more ads with more products, but, so far, we've only seen this mascara ad. But I want to talk about this ad and not about the quality of the products. The model they booked is Cara Delevingne, and I don't mean to be rude but, they can put her in ther RTW campaign because she's an it-girl and blah blah blah....but on a beauty campaign? Wrong. And the worst part of it is that they use her for a campaign called "Babydoll". Cara's look is boyish, not babydoll. Three other models have been doing YSL beauty ads lately, and they are Edita Vilkeviciute, Ginta Lap...
