Book review: "The Cruel Prince", by Holly Black

Overhyped books...they terrify me. And this one probably redefined the word overhyped, but I have to agree with everyone responsible for that. "The Cruel Prince" is my first Holly Black book, and I'm really looking forward to reading some of her previous work. Her writing is one that I find very easy to read, while having a lot of words I wasn't even familiar with. To sum the plot up without giving much away, I'll say that this book is about Jude, a human who lives among the Fae. She craves being accepted by them, but many Fae despise humans. So you can guess it's not an easy ride for her and her twin sister. We follow her story while we discover everything that is going on in the Fae lands, where a big political change is about to happen. One of the things that I enjoy the most (and that I always like in books) is that there was a combination of action and description. This world is quite a complex one, and it is explained to us while things ke...

Book Review: "Stalking Jack the Ripper", by Kerri Maniscalco

I'm talking about a book again, how exciting!! I actually loved including some book reviews on the blog during December, and thought it'd be nice to do whenever I read a book that deserves 5 stars and all my love. Over the past year, I have heard a lot about "Stalking Jack the Ripper". It actually got to the point where I didn't want to read it because the hype was huge and it was going to disappoint me. Spoiler alert: it didn't. I couldn't put it down and that is always a good sign. But sometimes I read books that are fairly average and I can't put them down. So let me tell you (without spoiling you) why this book is so good. "Mostly because my modern stance (on why girls were equally capable of having a profession of apprenticechip) offered endless amusement."  Quote from "Stalking Jack the Ripper" Vuelvo a hablar de un libro, ¡qué emoción! Me encantó añadir un par de reseñas literarias en el blog durante diciembre...

"13 minutes" by Sarah Pinborough #blogmasday18

When I knew I'll be talking about different books during this month, I wanted to show you books that were not the same thing over and over again.  I talked about Sharapova's biography, which is non-fiction and has a sport element. And also about the "Fever" series, which is fantasy. "13 minutes" is fiction, but has no fantasy on it. So as you can see, those books are clearly not the same. I had seen this book everytime I went to a bookshop and it caught my eye every single time. I finally decided to listen to the audiobook and it was a great decision. Rosie Jones is, so far, my favourite narrator I've ever listened to on an audiobook. Her different voices and accents gave the characters a lot of personality, and made it really easy to know who was talking when. And the last couple of sentences were probably the creepiest thing I've ever listen, but also incredibly brilliant. The story is pretty intriguing. Natasha is found dead on a riv...

Book review: Unethical by Jennifer Blackwood

So, today I'm doing something different. I know this is a fashion blog, and you'll get a fashion post next Tuesday. But today I want to do a book review. Without fashion shows and campaigns, things get a little repetitive. If you have any requests, or you want me to talk about something in particular, let me know. It'll appreciate it. I'm a bookworm and I spend a lot of time reading. So this is an important part of my life. It's not as important as fashion, but just a few things are. A couple of days ago I read this book called Unethical, by Jennifer Blackwood. And when I finished reading it,  I was surprised with the way it ended. It ends with a message that says that you'll get some extra chapters if you write a review. And I thought that was pretty cool. This is Jennifer's debut novel, and this is a great way to get feedback. People give her their opinions, and they get something in return. I thought about writing my review on Goodreads, b...
