UK Vogue May 2018, by Craig McDean

When Edward was announced as EIC of UK Vogue, everyone screamed "diversity! Finally!". They were excited to know that the British edition of Vogue (known for its lack of diversity) will stop being so out of touch on such an important topic. A couple of months later, on Edward's 6th issue, we got the diverse cover many were waiting for. As always, some people loved it and some despised it. The ones who didn't like it said things along the lines of how forced the cover feels, how forced the diversity feels. Despite wanting to see all types of men and women being represented (minus the ones wearing symbols that promote the oppression of men or women), I do feel it is slightly forced.  I also believe that diversity is more than just looks or race, but that's another story for another day. For 2 models featured in this cover, this certifies their status as the top new faces. Both Adut and Fran have now covered Uk Vogue and Italian Vogue. 2 out of the Big ...

Bella Hadid for Uk Vogue January '18 #blogmasday13

Imagen
Just stop reading for a second and think: when you hear the name Bella Hadid, which image comes to your mind? Most likely an image of Bella at an event or a show, where she is heavily styled in one way or another. The image that comes to my mind is slightly different, for specific reasons, but it'd be what I mentioned before had you ask me a year ago.  And that's the thing about celebrities, their image is so artificial sometimes. All the make-up, all the thinking behind a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt, ...while I understand that it just works that way, it saddens me. Not only because it creates a very unrealistic image that may even affect people's confidence in their looks, but also because many celebrities look ten times better with a minimalistic look. After telling you all of that, I don't really need to explain why I love this editorial so much. It's called "comfort zone" and it plays with that idea of not overthinking everything ima...

#tbt: Karlie Kloss for Uk Vogue May '12

Imagen
Karlie and British Vogue have always produced good editorials. For some reason, she seems to fit more this British version than she does the American, and we all know where she is from.  One of my all time favourite editorials from her is this one by A. Pennetta for British Vogue. It's called "An American in Paris", like the musical, and it was done during the HC season in 2012. It feels like ages ago. I love how casual it is, and the outtakes are amazing too.  "An American in Paris" Ph: Angelo Pennetta Outtakes: Karlie y el Vogue británico siempre han producido buenos editoriales.

"Absolutely Fashion: Inside British Vogue" documentary (BBC 2)

We finally have a date for the release of this documentary about British Vogue that will be shown on BBC 2. We only have 6 more days left, people. It will air the 8th of September. I was very happy when I heard about this documentary. I love this kind of thing, since it really allows us to see more behind the scenes footage and that's what help us understand the fashion world completely. In 2009, the most hyped fashion documentary was released. I'm talking about "The September Issue". It's a must seen, if you love fashion. This won't be exactly the same, since it won't be just focused on one specific issue. But I'm dying to watch it. Me a...

UK Vogue June 2016: 100th anniversary, Kate Middleton

Imagen
PH: Josh Olins First things first: Happy Birthday, British Vogue! You may know already that UK Vogue has been celebrating its 100th anniversary for a while. Specially if you live in London (or the UK, I guess) like myself. They've spent a lot of money on advertising. Everyone expected something big, and something big we got. Kate had never posed for a fashion magazine before. So, getting that exclusive is massive. And being able to keep it a secret for over 3 months is even more impressive. I'm not a monarchy person (I'm a republican in the Spanish meaning of the word, not the American), but we're not here to talk about politics, are we? So I'll just judge this cover in an artistic way, and I like it.  The stylism, the location, the smile, ...they got it all right. They didn't try to make her look like someone she's not, which is definetely the way to go. And the whole issue is a collectors issue, really. We have the best British models ...

"The future of fashion" documentaries, Alexa Chung for British Vogue

Imagen
This isn't the first time I talk to you about a fashion documentary. And I seriously doubt it'll be the last. As with any other topic, if you want to really learn about it, you'll have to do some research. For some people, watching a documentary is more entertaining that reading a book. And, if you pick the right one, it can be as informative. I mean, I love reading but...when it comes to fashion, I kind of like documentaries better.  That's why I was looking forward to these series of videos Alexa Chung has been doing in colaboration with UK Vogue. There are 2 series of "The future of fashion" that are really interesting. I particularly like the second, in which Alexa goes to NY, since they used the feedback they got after publishing series 1 to create a series of videos where most of our questions are answered. That's what you call a 21st century documentary, isn't it? Once all the videos were out, they uploaded new ones where you could fi...

Vogue covers, January 2016

Imagen
Last year was strange, cover wise. Hopefully, 2016 will be different, since it makes me sad to see big magazines losing their identity (sorry, Italian Vogue). There are some January covers that makes us think that everything is going to be alright. Fingers crossed. Vogue UK January 2016: Gigi Hadid by Patrick Demarchelier When I saw this cover 2/3 months ago, I thought it was lovely. Now that I have the magazine, I can tell that the ed is quite lovely as well. The interview, however...I can't stand anything Gigi says these days. Guess why? But it's a great cover anyway. Cuando vi esta portada hace 2/3 meses, pensé que era muy bonita. Ahora que tengo la revista, he podido comprobar qu...
