Vogue Spain 30th Anniversary: Birgit, Blanca, Luna & Yasmin by Emma Summerton

Vogue Spain is turning 30 this month, and I'm turning 29 next week. Should we celebrate together? I feel like we should.

However, the big difference between Vogue and I is that I won't have all these models posing for my birthday card. I know, very unfair!

But let's forget about that, so we can talk about the cover and the editorial they created for this special moment.

Funnily enough, the Spanish version of Vogue is using 3 Dutch models and a Spaniard to celebrate their anniversary. Now, don't get me wrong, because I don't believe in just using models from Spain on Spanish magazines. I want them to pick who they think is the best for that job, and who they like the most over someone who was born in Madrid instead of Amsterdam. 

My issue is that being an anniversary issue, I feel like a group shot should include national models. Had they gone for a solo cover, I wouldn't mind as much. But it just feels more like Vogue Netherlands. Granted, most working models seem to be Dutch, so...

Apart from that initial "problem", I do like these four models together. They're different, but at the same time they all have very strong looks and strong personalities. They are perfect for this kind of editorial, where they want to play with movement and outfits that force the model to...well, model.

The video is ten times better than the photos, probably because the models are bringing their A game here. And even the ones that are weaker in print (hi Yasmin) can shine.

All in all, not bad for an anniversary issue...but it could be better.

"Baila como si fuera 1988"

Vogue España cumple 30 años este mes, y yo cumple 29 la semana que viene. ¿Deberíamos hacer una fiesta conjunta? Yo creo que si.

Sin embargo, la gran diferencia entre Vogue y yo es que estas modelos no van a posar para mi tarjeta de cumpleaños. Lo se, ¡una injusticia total!

Pero dejemos eso de lado para hablar de la portada y el editorial que crearon para celebrar esta fecha tan especial.

Es curioso que la edición española de Vogue celebre algo usando 3 modelos holandesas y una española. Pero no me malentendáis, porque no soy de las que piensa que las ediciones de cada país deben usar solo a las modelos de su país. Quiero que elijan a quien consideran mejor para el trabajo, no a quien ha nacido en Madrid en vez de Amsterdam.

El problema es que siendo un número de aniversario, tengo la sensación de que sería mejor hacer una portada grupal con modelos españolas. Si hubiesen optado por una sola modelo en portada, me daría igual. Pero siendo como es, parece más Vogue Holanda. Aunque he de reconocer que la mayoría de modelos que trabajan hoy en día son holandesas, así que...

Aparte de ese pequeño "problema", he de decir que me gusta este grupo de modelos. Son diferentes, pero a la vez tienen en común que su físico es especial y sus personalidades también. Por ello encajan en este tipo de editorial en que juegan con el movimiento, y en que la ropa fuerza a las modelos a...bueno, modelar.

El vídeo es mil veces mejor que las fotos, probablemente porque todas las modelos están haciendo un gran trabajo en el. Y porque incluso las que son menos buenas en fotos (hola Yasmin) pueden lucirse.

En general es un buen número de aniversario...pero podría ser mejor.
